With nothing football related going on at Tfc for the foreseeable, does anyone want a stab at our next league game's date. While Johnson is doubling down on this being a 4 week lockdown, Gove well and truly let the cat out of the bag Sunday so given we are looking at an extended period, what are your guesses at dates and do you see any movement on govt intervention?

Our being labelled "non elite" was good in allowing us to attend from summer till now but it also puts us currently ineligible for financial support so games behind closed doors isn't even an option (not that I'd want it).

This could be the period that really does see clubs go to the wall. The last lockdown coming only 5/6 weeks before the end of the season spared some of the worst consequences. This has come at a shocking time.

And just to clarify I am not an anti lockdown loon. I think it should have come far earlier when the scientists suggested it and I also acknowledge saving lives is far more important than any of us going down the Lamb but I am just pondering on the impact this will have on our level of the game.

I was pleasantly surprised all 22 in our league restarted. I will be even more pleasantly surprised if that happens again.

Yellow Brick Road we’ve fallen off ONLY just by one league. Can’t see us being allowed to start for several months which means season can’t be completed!

There will have to be a period of training beforehand so I guess the 19th Dec home to Hitchin. The Trophy game may be played a few days before.Only a guess though.

I'll be truly stunned if we play before Christmas.

My guess is in the new year

The league should and probably will be extended until the end of June and then next season starts up early September

This may also mean the scrapping of the trophy for this season and an awful lot of teams being asked to do Saturday, Tuesday until the end of the season

Given last year's trophy final is still pending, it might be ambitious to squeeze this year's in I agree!

Anyone want another guess at when this might be?

August

I am hoping for earlier but taking into account this government's ability to make a bad situation even worse I would have to agree with August but it wouldn't surprise me if it is later :(
I think the whole country should go into complete lockdown for a month while vulnerable people are being vaccinated and maybe we could finally start getting Covid under control, but that's not going to happen cos it's the sensible thing to do :(

I could imagine us being allowed slightly earlier but to what end? If we aren't playing in the next 2/3 weeks (we won't be) then we absolutely can't sensibly finish a season in a realistic time frame.

As fans we can wait as long as we have to but I am very worried about how long lower league clubs can survive with no income?

When we do restart the season, if ever, fans will have got out of the habit of visiting the Lamb, so we may also suffer a drop in gates. A double whammy for the club.

The £14m govt money offered for steps 3-6 seemed useful but turned out to be over 80% loans and that is literally no help whatsoever. Something is going to have to give sooner or later because the vaccine (in terms of making any difference) is going to come far too late.

After nearly 60 years going to watch football it's in my DNA and while I am still breathing I will be going to watch football. My 2 fav things in life are:

1 : Going to the pub, then a game then to the pub again :)

2 : Going to the pub, then a heavy metal gig then to  the pub again :)

Heaven :)

Won't it be great when we can do that again when the vaccine is rolled out...

With no games allowed until March at the earliest, Maybe the Southern League should pull the plug right now instead of doing a Boris and dithering.

Season not officially but effectively over now that National League N & S have null and voided.

Yep, I think you are correct Pricey.
Nice interview with Bob Andrews on the Club web site.
I think he was resigned to that anyway.

I think we all were really but this should speed things along. No point leaving it any longer now.

Fingers crossed that next season can start on time with fans but I have given up predicting anything in this mad world, although one thing I can predict is that Everton will lose tomorrow's Derby as usual.  Some things never change :(
Hope you are all safe and well down there ?

Not bad mate. Frustrated by the constant toing and froing with this nonsense and no sign of me getting a vaccine any time soon.

Like you say, fingers crossed for August. If sport is still behind closed doors by August I think it'll be safe to say the vaccine hasn't worked!

22 years! Get in there. Pickford also great which will also have pissed them right off after the Goodison van Dijk incident!

How good is it to see the arrogant red sh*te getting turned over at home yet again. Made my day, especially with it being Everton, who i have a soft spot for and even more so since we played them, and given  how welcoming they were to us at Goodison. Enjoy the occasion Col but careful with the amount of ciders you have!!

Wow, I enjoyed that, after 21 long years, to be honest i am lost for words, it means so much to all Evertonians to shut up the red sh.te fans who I detest even more than the team.

Keane was immense and so was Pickford. so were all 11, to be honest I didn't have any cider in the house so I am completely sober, my last drink was the last time I was down for a game, which was March 7th, OMG nearly a year :(

Had my first jab last Sat and felt a bit off the next days but fine since, it is absolute madness that all teachers have not been given the job, I bet all those useless politicians have had it.

Hope to see you all for a game sometime this year :)

Ps although I had honestly given up hope of us ever winning a derby again I had a tenner on us cos we were 17/2 which was a mad price.

See you soon, stay safe all :)
