Tamworth have brought in Kettering Town & Stratford Town Manager Thomas Baillie has joined the club as 'Head of Senior Football.

What is all this about??? I read the rest of the article but I don’t see the point of this. The last one we had didn’t do much and just seemed to add to the money leaving the club

Not sure about this as a move personally

Hope this doesn't cause friction with the present managers. The last thing we want is problems behind the scenes. It may,of course, help with recruitment of better players.

Baillie did a brilliant job at Stratford including when deservedly beating us at the Lamb but he is a manager pure and simple and we already have two.
Personally, he would have been a great pick when DG went but given the current situation, I can't see the point of this.

It does make him favourite to take over if we are struggling by October/November and decide to wield the axe again mind you.

He's the manager in waiting. So obvious.

Massive kick in the teeth tonight for Smudge & Andy. Can’t paint any picture other than that and may burst their magic dust bubble that saved us from relegation and almost got us to 8th. For f@@Ks sake the BOARD choose MF and that Cockney idiot - you’ve not even given S&A a chance when their partnership that’s has given us hope after 2 relegations- TFC becoming a joke I’m afraid!

Baillie has a track record as a good manager and if you want to talk about magic dust, getting Stratford to the play offs on the crowds and resources they have is real magic but unless Smudge has asked for this move to tap into a bigger bag of contacts then I don't see how this works.

I know this is a somewhat forced analogy but I teach primary school kids and if my school recruited a headteacher from somewhere else to supervise all my lessons, I'd not be particularly thankful to the board of governors.

Argus9, please note it’s Andrew not Andy, that is his preferred use of his first name, also you are wrong as the two managers are working very well with Thomas. A very successful manager at the level we now find ourselves so will add a lot to the enthusiasm Gary & Andrew are showing. Let’s loose the negativity as it has taken a few years to get it away from the Lamb. Encourage not discourage certainly since a ball has not yet been kicked in anger.

Sorry Larry the Lamb must be more careful in my name captions. Thought S & A (hope that’s ok in avoiding any more please notes) we’re doing just great in savings TFC from oblivion without any assistance - how positive is that to Smudge and Andy aka Andrew aka Andy aka a bloke doing a bloody good job! Told today we have a Head of Senior Football for the first time out of the blue from nowhere. Tell me where in any press release Smudge and Andrew aka Andy aka a bloke doing a very good job are happy and working well in this new arrangement. Communication once again shall we say poor. A ball has not been kicked indeed but did you not notice on this thread and others elsewhere everybody is supporting Smudge & ANDREW 100% especially in the vacuum of not knowing what’s friggin going on behind the scenes

Lammie what a pointless post from you.
What does it matter that Andy gets called Andrew? Argus9 calls me all sorts of names I don’t like and I don’t complain.
As for positivity, the posts on this Forum have in the greater majority been very positive and the only complaints as my friend(?) Argus points out have been about the lack of information.

If we all attend the AGM on Tuesday evening, then we can get to the bottom of this needless appointment,WHY do we need a head of senior football? WHAT will this meaningless appointment achieve?and in my opinion WHY rock the boat after Smudger and his side kick have resurrected this club and its fans.We finished the season on a high, but this latest saga has definitely caused a stir again.I wish that you people on here would air you views on the official TFC page like myself and Argus do,that way you will get heard and perhaps the board will be a little bit more forthcoming with any news that we should know about and not keep us in the dark.
Carry on with your initialing Mr Argus, I'm sure the two concerned won't lose any sleep over it.

How do we know that they didn’t request someone be brought in for this role? Hard to criticise without knowing the facts and reasons behind it.

Exactly that - I did say earlier that it was weird unless Smudge and AD had requested it but when we already have two managers, getting a third in (because Baillie is a proven manager at this level) seems a strange thing for us to do.

Baillie is a strong choice if we have to have one (great season at Stratford last year) but I wouldn't be totally delighted him looking over my shoulder if I was GS and AD if we started the season not brilliantly.

Sorry mate - Who’s fault is that? - TFC have announced the Head of Football to us fans in the press. Their press release clearly doesn’t state much apart from the fact that the new HOF has better contacts than our heroes.

Well until someone asks the questions in a interview we won’t know. For all we know they could have begged for this, or they could have spat their dummies out. Maybe the Tamworth Herald will ask these questions to the relevant people, or if you are that bothered request an interview yourself and ask the questions you would like answered.
